Chinese elm bonsai yellow leaves. Start date may 13 2020. I initially kept it in indoors and within a few weeks the leaves were yellowing very. It is growing really well and simply needs pruning. Allso yellowing of the leaves and black spots on the to me sounds like a lack of water not to little.

Messages 3 reaction score 1. Treat with systemic fungicide. This is because the bonsai is putting all its energy into growing on the tips. The oft repeated myth of damage to chinese elms is just that a myth.
There was an ingredient well over 20 years ago in a systemic fungicide which had caused a problem but that ingredient is no longer used any more. Repoting is allso probly a good idear. I was given a chinese elm as a gift at the end of march. The chinese elm bonsai is subtropical meaning that during the coldest periods in the year it should drop the leaves and enter a dormant period.
